1. Pin the Extension

Chrome tucks new extensions away in its Extensions menu. Pin Roblox Game Filter so it's always one click away.

  1. Click the puzzle piece at the top right of Chrome, next to the address bar.
  2. Find Roblox Game Filter in the list and click the pin next to it.
  3. The Roblox Game Filter icon now sits in your toolbar. Click it any time to open the extension.

2. Add Your First Filter

Open the extension. It starts on the Filters tab.

  1. Type a word into the keyword box at the top, like free.
  2. Press Enter or click Add.
  3. The word shows up under Your filters, and any open Roblox page updates right away. No refresh needed.

Good to know

  • A filter matches any part of a game's name, and capitals don't matter. free catches "FREE UGC Items", but also "Freedom Tycoon", so short words can catch more than you expect.
  • Use the search box and sort menu above your filters to manage a long list.
  • Click × to delete one filter, or Clear all to start over.

3. Choose How Filtered Games Look

Open the Settings tab. Under Filtered games, slide between Gray out and Hide.

Gray Out Default

Free Robux Generator

Filtered games stay on the page, faded and gray. Click one and a Filtered Game Warning lists the keywords it matched. Press OK to open it anyway, or Cancel to stay where you are.

Hide

Removed from the page

Filtered games disappear completely and the rest of the page closes the gap. Pick this if you never want to see them at all.

Not sure which to pick? Try both in the live demo.

Exclude and Include

Since version 1.21, every filter has its own mode. New filters start as Exclude, and you can switch any filter to Include from the tag next to it in Your filters. The menu next to the keyword box picks the mode for new filters.

Exclude
Games with the word in their name are filtered. This is what most people want.
Include
Only games with the word in their name are shown. Everything else is filtered.
Both
Include obby and Exclude free to see only obbies, minus the free-Robux ones.

Where It Filters

Filtering runs on these Roblox pages and keeps up as you scroll and as Roblox loads more games. It also works on Roblox's translated pages, like roblox.com/de/home.

Home
Game rows, plus what your friends are playing.
Charts
Every sort on the Charts page, including the older Discover pages.
Search
The games that come up when you search Roblox.
Communities
Games listed on a community's page.
Game pages
The recommended games below a game. If you open a filtered game directly, a banner at the top of its page shows which keywords it matched. Click × to dismiss it.

Warnings follow your Roblox theme, whether that's light, dark, Classic or a Roblox Plus theme.

Friends Playing Filtered Games

The friends list on the Home page shows what each friend is playing. When that game matches a filter:

  • In Hide mode, your friend just looks like they're online, and the game is left out of their menu.
  • In Gray out mode, their game is dimmed with a ⚠︎ mark. Hover over them and their menu shows the keywords it matched.
  • Joining takes two clicks: the first click on Join shows a warning, and a second click joins anyway.
  • To turn this off, go to Settings and switch off Filter friends' games.

Pause Filtering

Want to see everything for a bit? Open the Settings tab. The top card says Filtering is on and has a button for each pause length.

  • Tap 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour, and filtering turns itself back on when time is up.
  • Tap Until I resume to pause with no timer, or Custom… to pick your own time. Click Save as preset to add that time to your buttons.
  • While paused, the card says Filtering is paused and shows the time left. Click Resume filtering now to turn it back on early.
  • Click Edit presets to change the buttons: drag to reorder, tap × to delete, or add a new time with an optional name. Reset to defaults brings back the original four and removes the ones you added.

Sync, Back Up and Share

If you're signed in to Chrome with sync turned on, your filters and settings follow you to your other Chrome browsers automatically. Installing the extension on a new browser picks up your saved filters too. Pauses and backups stay on each browser.

Good to know

  • Before another browser's changes replace your filters, the extension saves a backup, so nothing is lost.
  • Chrome limits how much it can sync. If your filter list gets too long, the popup tells you, and your filters stay on this browser while your settings keep syncing.

Everything else lives in the Sharing tab.

Export filters
Download your list as a Text file (one word per line, easy to share), a Backup (.json), or a Backup with settings (also saves your display mode, friend filtering and pause presets). Tick Remember my choice to skip the question next time, or change it any time under Export as, just below.
Import filters
Click Choose a file to import a .txt file with one keyword per line, or a .json backup. Keywords are only ever treated as plain text and settings are checked before they're applied, but only upload files from people you trust.
Restore backup
Every time your filters change, the extension saves a backup. The list shows when each one was made and how many filters it has. Click Restore, then Confirm, to bring one back.

Troubleshooting

Nothing is being filtered

Refresh any Roblox tabs that were already open when you installed, since extensions can't reach pages opened before them. Then check that the Settings tab says Filtering is on, and that you're on one of the supported pages.

A game I like got filtered

One of your filters matched part of its name. In Gray out mode, click the game to see which keyword it was, then remove that filter or make it more specific.

My filters disappeared

Open the Sharing tab and click Restore backup to bring back one of your recent backups. If you use Chrome sync, a change made on another browser may have replaced your list, and a backup of your old list is saved first.
